I love my iPhone– yes, it sucks that I’m paying close to 100 bucks a month for my cell phone bill and I can’t say it has made me much more organized, but it certainly makes my life more enjoyable and it seems I’m not the only one.
iPhone application sales are through the roof. In the month since Apple opened an online software clearinghouse called the App Store, users have downloaded 60 million programs and Apple has been selling on average $1 million worth of applications per DAY.
If sales continue at this rate, Apple is expected to take in at least $360 million a year in new revenue. Applications reaching more than $1 billion in sales?
In my opinion, retailers and companies really need to start considering whether or not developing iPhone applications is in their business model. Not everyone is going to own an iPhone, however, there is clearly a tremendous amount of revenue to be made. Many of the applications are only games, but there are some that provide a lot of value for their users.
As for us at LeverageCard.com, an iPhone app is definitely in the works. It’s totally top secret, but I can absolutely tell you that it’s going to rock.
