Gas Prices Have Dropped, People Think The Economy Is Good Again

Remember when gas was over $4? People started driving less. They started carpooling. They became addicted to the Hybrid cards. They started taking the bus. People were conscious. People knew that
depending on oil was dictating their lives. People changed their behaviors and were content and happy.  I can say this was true up until a couple of weeks ago, when gas prices were still hovering around $3.50.

Circuit City Closing Down 150 Stores: Interview With Store Employee

A couple of weeks ago, I went down to my local Circuit City store after I heard about them closing down 150 stores nationwide. I haven’t been back to a Circuit City for some time now, and wanted to see what the store environment was like. Here’s the clip:

Without further interruption here is the post from a Circuit City employee: (name will be kept anonymous)

Let me start this off by saying I’m a sales associate at Circuit City and what I say here will be as accurate and unbiased as possible. Let me also say I don’t have any secret records from Circuit City corporate. All information stated here is just from my own experience working at Circuit City the last several months.

How long have you worked there?

I’ve worked at Circuit City for about four months.

In the last 6 months, what kind of changes have you seen?

The single most obvious change is less people coming in. Even when I started four months ago, the amount of people walking into the store was more. I think less people walking in is due partially to the economy, but I also think customers have also lost confidence in Circuit City. To give you an example our store is roughly 20,000 square feet. When I started the average number of customers at peak times were about 25 people. Currently, we rarely have more than 5 customers in the whole store at the same time.
